Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 8:30 a.m.

The Carolina Surf Film Festival is coming up THIS weekend – that’s Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19. At Tradesman Brewing, downtown Tickets and more information available at carolinasurffilmfestival.com.

We will have the full line of Billabong and O’Neill jackets, full-suits, and spring suits on the floor. Get ready for some cooler weather. Looks like waves on the way next week.

Surf at The Washout this morning is knee high with a rare bigger set.

We have west/south-west winds at 10 knots right now, but and surf is not too choppy.  It is very soft. Not fun this morning.

We see winds trend more westerly through the day and becoming strong at 20 to 25 knots. Knocking the surf flat.

We have a high tide at 9:17 a.m, and a low tide will be at 3:32 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:40 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 ft. at 10 seconds in a medium-period easterly ground swell, and 2.3 ft. at 4 seconds in a short-period south wind swell.

A cold front passes our area today, and winds come strong west as the day wears on. As high pressure sets up late week, we don’t expect much surf through Saturday, but south wind swell again picks up Sunday through Tuesday as another cold front approaches our marine area.

It’s 73* and rainy/cloudy this morning. Time for some neoprene. Look for a high of 78* with rain ending this afternoon.

Water temperature has dropped to 76*. Get a spring suit.

Sunrise is at 7:23 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:46 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
