Semi-choppy. Cleaner surf-zone for afternoon.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat.
Traffic: Some. But not too bad.
Parking: None at the Washout.
Dangers: Hollywood overexposure. ;-)

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, October 27 at 8:30 a.m.

Evidently crews are filming what we would guess is the Netflix series Outer Banks at the Washout this morning, because there is absolutely NO parking. So many cars and trucks it resembles the parking situation during a hurricane swell. So, it might be best to avoid The Washout this morning.

It really doesn’t matter anyway, because surf at the Washout is flat.

Winds are from the north at 10 to 15 knots, and surf zone is side-shore and semi-choppy. It’s super weak.

Look for north-west winds at 5 to 10 with beautiful fall weather and small surf today.

Tide is just coming in. High tide will be at 12:54., and low tide will be at 7:21 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 4.6 feet at 6 seconds in a short-period north/north east wind swell. This high angled swell is rolling past our beaches.

We should see surf begin to pick up tomorrow afternoon and build significantly Friday in a choppy south wind swell as a low pressure system and accompanying cold front move through our marine area. There might be a small leftover wave Saturday morning, but unfortunately surf looks small again for the weekend as winds come north and cooler weather moves into our beaches.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “High pressure will prevail today, before a low pressure system impacts the region Thursday through the end of the week. High pressure will return early next week.”

It’s 57* and sunny this morning. It’s beautiful out here at the beach. Look for a high of 68* today and plenty of sunshine. Perfect fall beach weather.

Water temperature is 73*.

Sunrise is at 7:33 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:33 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
