Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, October 28 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly is ankle-to-knee and not to looking to great this morning.
Winds are east/north-east at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and weak.
Look for winds to clock east to south-east this afternoon and pick up to 15 knots. Surf should get choppier as the day wears on.
We are coming off a high-tide before sunrise, low tide will be at 12:30 p.m. The next high tide will be at 6:45 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is down. Virtual buoy data is showing 1.6 ft at 7 seconds in a small, medium-period east swell.
Small surf today, but we have Hurricane Zeta in the Gulf of Mexico. The storm is forecasted to further strengthen and hit south-east Louisiana. Zeta will merge with an oncoming cold front that will eventually affect our marine area tonight into Thursday, with strong south winds and a quick shot of choppy, dirty south wind swell. Look for surf to build Thursday in choppy, drifty conditions. Swell should clean up sometime on Friday, as strong westerly winds go north-west as surf fades with the strong off-shore flow. We see high-angled north-east wind swell build through the weekend behind Thursday night’s cold front, and this high angled north-east wind swell should carry into early work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will linger through tonight. A large storm system will bring impacts to the region Thursday, followed by a cold front Thursday night. High pressure returns for the weekend. A dry cold front is expected early next week, followed by more high pressure.”
It’s 73* this morning with sun at the beach. We have perfect beach weather. Look for a high today of 78* and sun mixed with some clouds.
Water temperature is 74*.
Sunrise is at 7:34 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:31 p.m.
