Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, October 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are thigh-to-waist high. There is a stomach high set. inconsistent bigger sets are coming thought this morning. Looks kind of fun for the high-volume board once again.
Winds are east at 10 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and semi-choppy, but there are some sections to be had. There’s not too many people out, so that’s good.
We see winds continue east at 10 knots today as a cold front begins to move into the area for late week.
High tide will be at 10:09 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:29 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:33 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.3 feet at 8 seconds in an easterly wind swell.
We look for semi-choppy east wind waves today averaging waist high with side-shore, semi-choppy conditions and a slight drift down the beach. This easterly swell rotates more on-shore Thursday as a cold front passes through, and we could have a quick clean up Thursday morning on the high tide. Waves look to fall off again Friday and into early next week as cooler high pressure sets up over our marine aera and offshore flow will take over our weather pattern.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will swing into and through the region late week. Surface high pressure will build back in through the weekend then another cold front is forecast to pass through the region early next week.”
Water temperature is running around 71*.
It’s 69* with high clouds this morning. Look for clouds today with the sun trying to sneak out and a high of 76*. There is a chance for some rain this evening.
Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:51 p.m.
