Wednesday, October 23

Clean, but closing out, early.

Time of Report: 7:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Waist-to-chest.
Traffic: Some surfers around, and the weather is nice, so expect a fall crowd.
Parking: Some, yes.
Dangers: Work.

Good morning, this is DJ Master B with your Ocean surf shop surf report for Wednesday, October 23 at 7:30 a.m.

This surf report is for Luke ‘da Kook on the North Shore, HI. Where are some pictures? Get some surf for us, ya’ pelican!s

We have our boardshorts and bikinis marked down at least 20%. We have a great selection so stop on by and enjoy this warm weather.

Surf at The Pier is waist to chest high but is closing out hard at low tide. The pier looks like it has a lot of potential as some water gets under the surf as the tide comes in.

Winds are north/north-west at 10 knots, and it’s keeping conditions clean. There is still a slight current from north-to-south (east-to-west, whatever). Expect winds to slack some today and continue north around 10 knots as high pressure settles into our marine area. Surf zone should stay fairly clean today.

Tide just started coming in. We have a high tide at 1:30 p.m., and a low tide at 7:54 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is reading 6.2 feet at 7 seconds in medium period E-ESE swell.

Should be a fun little wave out there this morning as the tide comes in.

Our guys over at NOAA predict that a “High pressure will remain the primary weather feature across the region through Saturday. A cold front will move through Saturday night, followed by cool high pressure from the north.

We have Tropical Storm Oscar out in the Atlantic. He’s not as mean as he is on Sesame Street, but he is sending some waves into our beaches today and tomorrow. After he leaves the picture late week we should continue to see tradewind swell from the south to keep the longboard glides going with SOME surf continuing, but it won’t be huge. Thursday could shake down to be another fun morning, but I’d wait until the tide comes in mid-day, or find your favorite low-tide sandbar early morning. Conditions should be overall clean for the period with north winds going south and variable late week. We see warm fall temperatures and the fishing and the waves are great, so welcome to fall in the Lowcountry. Convince someone NOT to move here? Good luck. Surf fills in from the north-east in drifty, unappealing wind-swell starting Sunday.

It’s 64* and Sunny. We see a high of 77*. Beautiful Monday beach day!

Sunrise is at 7:05 a.m., Sunset 6:39 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast. #follybeach #surfreport #TSoscarsendussomething #wavestomorrow
