Wave Forecast: Knee-to-thigh.
Traffic: None
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, September 6th at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout is pretty drained out right now coming off the low tide. The swell has dropped a little overnight, but if the winds stay westerly leaning to the north a little, we may get a push on the incoming tide. Possibly some cruisy lines, just smaller than the past few days.

Winds are west/south-west at around 5 kts, so there is some chatter in the surf zone. Winds are forecasted to bounce around west/north-west before noon and eventually south around 10 kts

Low tide was 7:18 a.m. High will be at 1:55 p.m. The next low tide will be just after sunset at 8:15 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 feet at 10 seconds from the east/south-east in a long period swell. Not the best direction for Folly Beach, but there is something to ride.

Surf again is around knee-to-thigh high. Maybe slightly bigger. There is may be a little longboard wave as the tide comes in. We officially have Tropical Storm Lee, which is likely to have hurricane status before the end of today. All models are pretty tight in the three-five day forecast with a west/north-west track and move into our swell window by Monday. A lot can change in the next 5 days with this system. Looking like significant ground-swell could be expected late Sunday into early next week. We’ll keep you posted.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will persist across the region through late week. A cold front is then expected to arrive this weekend, before weak high pressure returns heading through early next week.”

 Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s 78* with clear skies. The breeze feels fantastic. Look for a high of 88* with sun. It’s a nice beach day.

Sunrise is at 6:57 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:38 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
