Good morning, kooks and rippers. This is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, September 3 at 8:30 a.m.
Come check out our neoprene selection as it starts to get cooler around this time of year, so you are stocked up and ready to charge when everyone else forgets to get theirs on the next swell!
It’s a beautiful morning at the beach, and as you can see, everyone has gone home. It’s locals summer, says our team member Claire G. The pro move is to come out here today for a quiet day with some “schweeeettt” weather.
Coming to you from the pier this morning we are seeing cleaner, textured conditions on the south-side of the pier with north/north-east winds blowing around 8 to 10 knots. We don’t have as much north-east current as there has been for the past few days.
Surf is running in the knee to thigh high range. It’s not great, but there is something to ride if you bring the longboard. It is pretty weak.
Low tide is at 10:31 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:22 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is showing swell from the ENE at 4.9 ft. at 6 seconds.
We have small, short period north/north-east wind swell in the water, and this should pick up a bit on the incoming tide mid-afternoon, with north/north-east wind on it, but not too bad. Surf looks pretty anemic but rideable on a long-board late week and into the weekend. We see another frontal boundary cross our marine area Sunday, and this will kick up another poor-quality north-east wind swell early next week. In the tropics a wave in the east tropical Atlantic should begin to get organized as it moves west/north-west into early next week. Just something to keep an eye on.
Our friends at NOAA predict a: “High pressure will extend across the area through late week. A cold front will move through from the northwest late Sunday, stalling just offshore through the middle of next week.”
Water temperature is around 82*.
It’s nice at the beach. It’s 79 and sunny. Look for sunny skies and a high of 82*.
Sunrise was 6:56 a.m., Sunset 7:44 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
