Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, September 1 at 8 a.m.

Surf at the Washout is thigh-to-waist high with a larger set wave in a very choppy south-west wind wave.

Waves are choppy with poor form. There is a significant drift up the beach.

Winds are south-west at 15 to 20. We expect higher gusts up to 30 knots today. Surf-zone stays choppy all day.

Low tide is at 9:40 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:18 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:43 tonight.

The Edisto buoy is reading 5 ft. at 5.9 seconds in a building, short period south-west wind swell.

We see choppy south-west wind waves building today. There should be some size, but form is poor. South winds pick up today ahead of an approaching cold front. This will build choppy, drifty south-west wind swell for Wednesday, dropping off some and cleaning up for Thursday morning, before falling off Thursday afternoon. Friday and into the weekend, we see smaller surf and high-angled, north-east wind chop fill in late week. Dropping off for the weekend. Best bet might be tomorrow morning with cleaner conditions and rapidly fading south/south-west wind swell on the incoming tide.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will pass through the region tonight into Thursday followed by high pressure through the weekend. Another cold front could impact the area early next week.”

It’s 80* this morning and mostly cloudy. Look for a hot, humid day with a high of 85* and sun behind clouds. There will be some wind, and a small craft advisory is in effect.

Water temperature is around 85*.

Sunrise is at 6:54 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:44 p.m.
