Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 8:30 a.m.
You can now park in right-of-way on the side streets at Folly Monday through Thursday. Keep in mind parking restrictions still apply Friday through Sunday. Check the City of Folly Beach’s Web site for more information.
We still have a mandatory mask ordinance in effect for Folly Beach.
Surf is thigh high with a waist-set in small, ground swell lines. It is closing out at the morning’s lower tide, but shows some potential. Should be a small, decent long-board wave out there as the tide comes in mid-morning. It needs some more water.
Winds are north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is very clean.
Look for winds to clock around south-west for afternoon at 10 knots, adding bump to fading surf.
We are coming off a low tide early this morning, and high tide will be at 1:51 p.m. The next low tide is at 8 p.m.
Swell continues to fade some today, with a few leftovers on Wednesday with less wind. The tropics are finally getting quiet, for a time. Look for surf falling off for late week, with a chance for some smaller trade-wind swell for the high-volume board this weekend as south/south-west winds pick up ahead of a cold front.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: High pressure will shift offshore by Thursday. Rain chances will then increase through the weekend as a cold front approaches the region early next week.”
It’s nice and cool this morning. It’s 60* and sunny. Look for a high of 74* today and sun. It’s a perfect fall beach-day. P
Water temperature has dropped with the cooler weather, is 74*. You’ll need a neoprene jacket or spring suit this morning.
Sunrise is at 7:07 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:16 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
