Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, September 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Welcome to the official first day of fall.
We actually got a few Billabong men’s spring suits and O’Neill jackets in, so come grab one while we have a few left as it’ll cool off at the beach later this week.
Surf at the Washout is knee-high with a thigh set.
Winds are south/south-east at 10 knots. Surf is choppy and weak.
Look for south/south-east winds to continue today at 10 knots. We see a bumpy surf zone all day.
WE have a high tide at 9:23 a.m., and low tide will be at3:35 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:48 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 7 seconds in a short period easterly wind swell. Hopefully the swell will swing more south-east as the day wears on.
Surf is still smaller this morning, but after a cold front passage on Thursday, winds will come more offshore and clean up a fun, small ground swell from what is now Tropical Depression Peter. This trend continues into Friday. Look for waves to drop off for the weekend as north-east flow increases and sends north-easterly swell past our beaches and down to Florida. But the weather will be beautiful.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Deep tropical moisture will lead to wet conditions today before a cold front moves through the area this evening into tonight. Cooler and drier high pressure will then prevail across the region into early next week.”
It’s 77* this morning with lots of sun. We expect partly cloudy skies with thunderstorms this afternoon and with a high of 81*.
Water temperature is around 82*.
Sunrise is at 7:07 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
