Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, July 5 at 8:30 a.m.

We have new Catch Surf and SofTech boards arriving this afternoon so you can get your small wave surf ON for the doldrums of summer. Come on by and check them out.

Surf at the Washout this morning is flat.

Winds are very light out of the north, and surf zone is semi-clean and weak.

Look for south winds to increase to a moderate 10 knots, but this could increase or decrease in storms this afternoon. We should see surf zone move from semi-choppy to semi-clean (on and off).

We have a high tide at 10 a.m., low tide follows at 4:02 p.m. high tide will fill in well after dark around 10:40 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 feet at 8 seconds in medium period east/southeast swell. With a south-west wind swell 1.3 feet at 3 seconds.

We have summer-small, short-period south/south-west wind swell in the water, with storms once again predicted for our area, and muggy weather conditions. Look for groundswell to increase at some point this weekend the weekend as a low could possibly form off of a stalled frontal boundary. Other than that, your looking at very small surf for the work week, with hot weather and storms.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A series of upper level disturbances as well as a stationary front positioned across northern Georgia and the South Carolina Upstate will bring unsettled weather to the area through the weekend.”

Water temperature is around 85*

Its 84* with clouds. It’s humid. Temps will eventually climb to a high of 86* with storms at some time this afternoon, increasing this evening.

Sunrise is at 6:16 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
