Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, Oct. 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Thank you to the organizers of the Carolina Surf Film Festival for another stellar party this weekend. Hope everyone survives the hangover.
Waves at the Washout at knee thigh to waist high with an occasional stomach high set, and looks fun for the longboard. It is a bit soft at the morning’s high tide.
Winds are north/north-east at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is bumpy with a clean face here and there.
We see easterly winds at 10 to 15 knots rotate south-easterly at 15 to 20 late today with choppy wind-swell late this afternoon.
High tide will be at 10:13 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:24 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:19 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft. at 8 seconds in medium period south-easterly swell and south-easterly wind swell.
We see a more on-shore – south-easterly – wind and swell direction with wind swell building from the south-east this afternoon into Monday, with choppy conditions ahead of a cold front. This swell could quickly clean up Tuesday, going small during the middle of next week. There are still some waves in the forecast for your weekend and into early next week, but surf might get small for a few days late week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak coastal trough will push inland today. A cold front will then move through Monday night followed by a stronger cold front late Tuesday and Tuesday night. High pressure will then prevail into late week before another cold front possibly affects the area next weekend.”
We have a beautiful day at the beach. It is 72* and cloudy this morning. Look for a cloudy day with showers in the forecast this afternoon.
Water temperature has dropped to around 73*with the cold snap. Might want to get a wetsuit soon.
Sunset is at 6:37 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:29 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
