Surf at the Washout this morning is thigh to waist high with stomach (plus) sets. It is closing out a bit at the morning’s low tide, but should get a push with the incoming tide. Surf is choppy and drifty, with a slight drifty down the beach from north to south.
Winds are north-east at 15 knots, and expected to stay north-east at 10 to 15 knots today.
We have a low tide as of report time, and high tide will be at 2:46 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:01 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 6.6 ft. at 6 seconds in a combination of north-east wind swell and long period south-east swell at 2.6 ft.
A costal trough will linger off-shore today, bringing increasing east south east swell and north-east wind swell today and into Thursday. We see north-east winds at 10 to 15 today, and surf should increase in size as the tide comes in under choppy conditions. We expect building east wind swell and south-east ground swell in the waist to chest high range over the next several days, with winds trending east for Thursday, and going south Friday. There should be plenty of swell in the water, but it might not be very clean. A front approaches late Friday, and winds go south-west and blow strong by Friday afternoon when surf gets side-shore and choppy. Saturday morning we see a quick clean up.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will slide into the Atlantic today while a coastal trough lingers offshore. The trough will push inland on Thursday and then lift north of the area. A cold front will move through the area Friday night followed by a secondary front Saturday night. Cool high pressure will return late in the weekend into early next week.”
