Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, February 17 at 8:15 a.m.
Follygras is taking place at the beach this morning, so part of Center Street is closed. Come party with us on the deck if you’d like. Traffic will be rough.
Surf at the Washout is knee to thigh high with a waist high set at the morning’s high tide.
Winds are north-east at 15 to 18 knots, and surf is choppy with poor form.
Winds are predicted to drop off some today, going east at 10 knots by late afternoon, and surf should stay fairly choppy today.
High tide will be at 8:46 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:49 p.m. The next high tide at 8:51 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 2 ft. at 10 seconds in east/south-east swell mixed with a north/north-east wind swell 3.3 ft. at 4 seconds.
We have a mix of small south-east swell and north/north-east wind waves today with choppy conditions averaging knee to thigh high. Best to catch it early today at the higher tide before surf drains out mid-afternoon and stays choppy. We see similar north-east wind waves for your Sunday, before surf drops off early in the work week. There is a chance for some trade wind swell late during the work week, but we’ll keep you updated.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak cold front will become stationary across the region this weekend. The front will lift north Monday, followed by high pressure prevailing for most of next week. A cold front should approach late next week.”
It is 60* and sunny this morning. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 67* and some passing clouds.
Water temperature is right around 57*.
Sunset is at 6:06 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:59 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
