Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, February 19 at 8:30 a.m.
There looks like there might be some southerly ground swell this weekend, so we could hold the Icebox Open. We will keep an eye on the forecast and let you know mid-week.
Surf at the Washout is knee to thigh high at the morning’s high tide. There is a slightly bigger set, but it will be best on a longboard for sure.
Tide is up in the rocks, so surf is weak, but could get better form as the tide pulls out.
Winds are north/north-east at 10, and surf is side-shore and semi-clean.
We see moderate easterly winds today, and surf should be semi-clean all day.
High tide will be at 9:54 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:05 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 4.9 ft. at 7 seconds in east/north east wind swell with medium period swell from the east/north-east.
We have a mix of north-east wind swell in the water today averaging thigh high with a possible bigger set early today and right around dark with the tide push. Surf should stay bumpy today with moderate easterly winds. We should see smaller surf early in the work week, before high pressure sets up over the Western Atlantic and sends in a possible trade-wind swell late in the work week, possibly holding into the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A warm front is expected to lift across the region today. A large area of high pressure will then prevail for much of the week. A cold front should approach the area early next week.”
It is 58 and cloudy. Look for a nice beach day with sun breaking through the clouds and a high of 73*.
Water temperature is right around 58*.
Sunset is at 6:08 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
