Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, May 5 at 8:30 a.m.

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!

A whole new shipment of Stewart surfboards has just arrived, including Epoxy Redline and 949 models. Come check it out.

Surf at the Washout is running thigh to waist high with stomach to rib high sets. It does look pretty fun, but there is a bump on the water.

Wind is south/south-west at 5-7 knots. Surf is bumpy/semi-choppy.

Look for southerly winds this afternoon averaging 5 to 10 knots. The surf should stay semi-choppy and bumpy today.

We have a high tide at 12:19 a.m., and a low tide will be at 6:14 p.m.

The Edisto buoy reading 2.6 ft. at 9 seconds in east/south-east medium period swell.

Trade-wind swell today as high pressure begins to slide to our west. Surf should increase Sunday, holding for Monday. Nothing too big, but looking at waist to stomach high trade wind swell as we sit on the western edge of a Bermuda style high pressure this weekend. Local winds should be moderate, and weather should be nice, so we should see a nice little multiple day swell. Some models are hinting at a low pressure system forming up off-shore of our waters early next week and sending more easterly swell, and stronger north-easterly winds, so keep an eye on that.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will weaken across the area through early this weekend. A cold front and upper disturbance is expected to usher in a more unsettled pattern along with increased chances for rain through the middle of next week.

It is sunny at the beach this morning and 71*. Look for a high of 78* with sun today. We have beautiful beach weather.

Water temperature is now up to around 70*.

Sunset is at 8:04 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:28 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
