Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, May 6 at 8:30 a.m.
A whole new shipment of Stewart surfboards has just arrived, including Epoxy Redline and 949 models. Come check it out.
Surf at the Washout is running waist to chest high with a rare bigger set in solid south-east swell. It is closing out at the morning’s low tide, but should get better as the tide comes in.
Wind is west at 5 to 10 – side/off-shore – and surf is clean with some texture on the wave face.
Look for west winds going south later today at 10 knots, adding some bump and chop to the surf zone.
We are just coming off a low tide. We have a high tide at 1:05 a.m., and a low tide will be at 6:55 p.m.
The Edisto buoy reading 6 ft. at 9 seconds in south-east medium period swell.
The buoy has jumped WAY up from yesterday’s reading, and there is surf today, getting choppier this afternoon as winds trend westerly. Look for surf to fade a bit but still swell for Monday with fairly clean conditions. We see continued trade-wind swell this week. It will be a bit smaller mid-week, but look for continued waves for the next several days.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak cold front will move through the area today and stall south of the region through the early next week as a series of upper level disturbances move through. High pressure will return for much of the middle and latter part of the week. Another cold front may approach the region next weekend, but likely stall north of the area.”
It is cloudy at the beach this morning and 71*. Look for a high of 81* with mostly cloudy skies today, but only a 10% chance of rain.
Water temperature is now up to around 72*.
Sunset is at 8:05 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:26 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
