Washout July 28th

mushy

Time of Report: 8:30 am
Wave Forecast: waist
Traffic: not bad
Parking: getting cramped at the Washout
Dangers: little drift

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, July 28th at 8:30 a.m.

The Casey Keegan Memorial Longboard Contest benefitting Surfers Healing is being held today at the Contest Shack-go say hey and hang with your favorite longboarders.

Surf at the Washout is averaging waist to stomach high and mushy.

Winds are WSW at 6 knots, and surf is slightly disorganized. It is soft at the morning’s high tide, but still looks fun on a high volume board.

We see S winds later today increasing to 10 to 15 knots, and semi-choppy/choppy surf later this afternoon.

High tide is at 8:50 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:48 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:23 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft at 5 seconds in a mix of medium-period SE swell, and SW wind swell.

Surf should drop off some as the tide drops out early afternoon. Surf should once again pick back up to thigh high with a plus set as the tide comes back in after work today with choppy conditions. Surf continues rideable and a bit bigger for Sunday, with winds out of the N making protected spots potential for fun. High pressure remains over the area until mid week, when we’ll see a small cold front move back in for Wednesday night.  Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Abundant moisture between Atlantic high pressure and inland low pressure will persist across the area into late next week keeping rain chances higher than normal.”

It’s 80* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 88* with clouds and a chance of a shower today.

Water temperature is 84*.

Sunset is at 8:21 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:29 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
