Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thurssday, August 23 at 8:30 a.m.
Remember that Surfers Healing takes place at the Folly Beach Pier today. Check it out on the beach.
Also, make sure to check out the Warrior Surf Foundation’s raffle at Bohemian Bull on Saturday. Check it out at www.warriorsurf.org.
Keep in mind bulldozers and beach nourishment area taking place at the Washout. They’ve added about 6 feet of sand and the area is currently blocked off.
Surf at the Washout is pretty much flat. Might see a knee high set at the tide moves in.
Winds are north for the first time in about a month. Surf is side-shore and faily clean.
Look for north-east winds at 10 knots today adding some drift and semi-choppy conditions at the beach.
Low tide will be at 12:20 p.m., and high tide will be at 6:55 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft at 3 seconds in a short period SW windswell with a south-east swell 1.3 ft. at 8 seconds.
We should see an increase in high angled easterly wind swell with choppy conditions for Friday averaging thigh to waist high. This swell holds for the incoming tide Saturday morning, before fading some Saturday afternoon. Surf looks small for Sunday and in to the coming work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will cross through the area this morning, followed by high pressure building in from the northwest. Our area will then remain between high pressure to our north and a stationary front offshore through early next week.”
It’s 78* and mostly sunny this morning. Look for a high of 86* with clear skies and less humidity today.
Water temperature is 84*.
Sunset is at 7:58 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:48 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
