Surf at the Pier is averaging knee high. There is an occasional thigh high set.
Winds are north at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is side-shore, and clean.
We see east winds this afternoon remaining around 10 knots with a possible higher gust, making surf semi-choppy.
We are coming off a high tide just before sunrise. Low tide will be at 1:18 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:45 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 10 seconds in a combination of long period easterly ground swell and short period east/north-east wind swell.
An area of tropical low pressure approaches our marine area from the east for the next few days, which could send up some small, medium period easterly swell through mid-week especially Tuesday. Look for waves averaging thigh to waist high, building a bit for Tuesday. A cold front approaches Wednesday and later in the work week, and winds go south-west for late week pushing up small, weak south-west wind chop.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will weaken today as a stationary front gradually approaches from the north into Monday. Low pressure will approach from the Atlantic Monday night into Tuesday, then weaken as it moves northward. A cold front is forecasted to approach from the west towards the second half of the week and then possibly stall over the area. A second cold front is expected next weekend.”
It’s 77* and partly cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 85* and sun and some clouds this afternoon with a 30% chance of a shower.
Water temperature is 83*.
Sunset is at 7:14 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:08 a.m.
