Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, October 3 at 8:30 a.m.
We have a large selection of 1 mm and 2 mm neoprene jackets here at the shop. Come pick one up because it’s getting a bit chilly for these early morning sessions, and the waves should be good this week.
Waves at The Pier this morning are waist high with a stomach high set. It’s closing out at the low tide, but should get better form as the tide moves in later this morning and you can still hop on a shoulder.
Winds are NNE at 5 knots, and surf is perfectly clean.
We see increasing SE winds this afternoon, remaining around 10 knots but likely chopping up the surf zone a bit.
Low tide is coming up at 8:50 a.m. High tide will be at 3:17 p.m. and low tide will be at 9:45 p.m. The Edisto buoy is reading 3.9 ft. at 6.4 seconds in a mix of medium period ESE ground swell and medium period NNE wind swell. Tropical Storm Leslie is floating around in the Central Atlantic to our east. We see some long period swell building today and building during the work week as Leslie moves WSW at 5 mph. Ground swell is expected to building into Friday and Saturday before Leslie moves NE. Local wind should calm down for the second half of the work week and ground swell surf should continue to fill in at a better angle. We should have some semi-choppy surf to ride for the next several days. There is also a low-pressure system in the south-west Caribbean that bears watching for development later this week as it moves north. Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region through early next week.”
It’s 75* with sun this morning. Expect a nice day with a high of 84* and sun.
Water temperature is 82*.
Sunset is at 7:02 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:14 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
