Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, October 12 at 8:30 a.m.
The Carolina Surf Film Festival takes place tonight and Saturday nights at Tradesman Brewing Company. Films start around 7 p.m., and doors are at 5 p.m. It is always a great event, with lots of vendors, raffles, and great surf films on the big screen. Check out carolinasurffilmfestival.com for tickets and details.
After last night’s fun clean-up session at the pier, waves at the pier are OK this morning. Surf is knee-to-thigh high with stomach high-sets. Looks fun for the long-board, but there is a LONG wait between sets.
Winds are north-west around 5 knots.
Look for north winds this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots, making surf zone side-shore but fairly clean.
High tide is at 10:57 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:06 p.m. Look for surf to fall off as the tide goes out.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 8 seconds in medium period south-east wind swell. There is wind-swell this morning 3.6 ft. at 5 seconds from the south-west.
Surf should be rideable through the high tide today, before falling off at low tide this afternoon. After a pretty epic clean-up session yesterday late afternoon, surf is smaller as what was Tropical Storm Michael has left the building. Cool high pressure sets up the weekend, and we’ll have 5-star weather and pretty small surf for the next three days.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Cooler and drier high pressure will build into the region through this weekend and prevail into early next week. A cold front could then move through the area mid-next week.”
It’s 65* and nice-and-cool this morning. Look for a high of 80* today with sun.
Water temperature is 81*.
Sunset is at 6:49 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:21 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
