Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January 17th at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the Pier this morning are teeny tiny.
Winds are NNW at 3 knots and surf is glassy and beautiful this morning.
Look for light southerly winds today increasing up to 10 knots tonight.
We have a low tide at 10:23 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:21 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:28 p.m. The Edisto buoy is reading 1.3 at 12 seconds in a long period ENE swell. We have small surf today and the rest of the work week looks to have smaller surf. Best hope for some waves might come as our next storm system affects our marine area late Saturday into Sunday, as we see a shot of south wind swell as a strong cold front approaches. Keep an eye on the wind Sunday afternoon. Depending on the timing of the front, it could clean up sometime Sunday afternoon, depending on when the wind finally comes off-shore after the cold front passage.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Dry high pressure will prevail today with a weak upper disturbance moving through tonight. A stronger storm system will then impact the area Saturday night and Sunday. Much colder temperatures will return early next week followed by increasing temperatures and rain chances into the middle of next week.
It’s 42* and sunny at the beach this morning. Look for a high of 58* with sun and clouds today.
Water temperature has dropped back to 56*.
Sunrise is around 7:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:38 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
