Pier February 22nd

clean, foggy

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: thigh +
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: foggy conditions

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, February 22nd at 8:30 a.m.

I’d be lying if I told you I really knew what the waves looked like this morning.  From the shoreline, waves at the Pier this morning are thigh to waist high and it’s definitely possible that there’s a bigger set. It looks soft but clean and incredibly foggy again this morning.

Winds are light from the S this morning with tons of fog lingering.

Look for NE winds later today and overnight hovering around 10 knots with showers tomorrow AM.

High tide is coming up at 9:34 a.m. and low tide will be at 4:02 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:26 p.m. The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft at 7 seconds in SE swell with variable winds. Still some decent south-east swell in the water today, with mostly clean conditions.  As the tide drains out after high tide, we should see continued swell in to the evening.  It should be a good day of surf. Surf looks to diminish some, but still be rideable over the weekend with north-east winds creating moderate chop. We see more south swell during the middle of next week as a low tracks near our marine area.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A backdoor cold front will slide south across the area through this evening, then shifting back north as a warm front late Saturday and and Saturday night. A cold front will then move through Sunday followed by high pressure into mid week. Low pressure will then likely affect the area late next week.”

It’s 67* and very foggy this morning. Look for a high of 71* and clouds with fog at the beach today.

Water temperature is around 57*.

Sunrise is around 6:56 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:11 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
