Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, February 21 at 8:30 a.m.
New Spring 2019 Beater Boards and Odysea Boards have arrived. Come see what’s new from Catch Surf. We also received a batch of new boards from Jason Rowells. Come check it out.
Sorry about the pictures this morning. It is VERY foggy.
Waves at the Washout this morning are waist to stomach high with a rib high set. It’s kind of soft with a very high tidal cycle. Bring the high-volume board, early. Waves should get better form mid-morning.
Winds are light from the east this morning, and surf is fairly clean.
Look for south-west winds adding some bump and chop to the surf zone this afternoon, but we should still have fun surf today.
We are coming in to a very high tide cycle this morning, low tide will be at 3:14 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:33 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 6 ft at 8 seconds in east/south-east swell, so plenty of swell still at the buoy, and we should see some waves all day.
We have good south-east swell in the water today, with south-west winds adding chop this afternoon. It should be a good day of surf. With a frontal boundary lingering in our marine area, we should see continued south swell drop some on Friday. Surf looks to diminish some, but still be rideable over the weekend with north-east winds creating moderate chop.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “nearly stationary front to the north will drop into the area on Friday before lifting back north Saturday. A cold front will sweep through from the west late Sunday, followed by high pressure on Monday. A low pressure system could affect the area during the middle of next week.”
It’s 55* and very foggy this morning. Look for a high of 77* and clouds with fog at the beach today.
Water temperature is around 57*.
Sunrise is around 6:57 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:08 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
