Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, March 4 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is waist to stomach high. There is a rib high set.
Winds are strong out of the west, and the surf is clean, but drifting north – up the beach.
Look for winds to rotate north-westerly at 15 to 20 knots today, and surf should get blown down by late afternoon.
We are coming off a high tide at dawn, and low tide will be at 12:32 p.m. The next high tide will be at 6:35 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 7.9 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium period south/south-west wind swell.
We have decent, rideable south-west wind swell in the water this morning, but it should get blown down as the tide recedes this morning. Surf looks small this week. After a reinforcing cold front moves through Tuesday night, winds are forecast off-shore, and there are no significant wave-making systems in the Atlantic for the week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will continue to push east of the area today. A weak trough will settle over South Carolina tonight into Tuesday, followed by a reinforcing cold front Tuesday night. High pressure will then prevail for the latter half of the week. Another frontal system could impact the area next weekend.”
It’s 62* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 63* with sun this morning and clouds for afternoon.
Water temperature is around 60*.
Sunrise is around 6:46 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:19 p.m.
