Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, August 18th at 7:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is in the thigh-belly high range still some slight drift and current.
Winds are moderate out of the WSW currently around 12mph making for semi-clean conditions.
Look for winds to continue WSW through the afternoon hours.
We’ll have a high tide at 10:20 a.m., and a low tide at 4:21 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.6 ft at 7 seconds in a SSW wind swell.
Surf this morning looks decent overall running thigh to belly with some slight drift down the beach. This swell fades throughout the day into early tomorrow so get on it while it last. Looking ahead high pressure looks to build back in over our marine area resulting in small surf for the early part of the work week. Keep your eyes on the tropics as always this time of year.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A stationary front will linger just west of the area early this week before dissipating. Atlantic high pressure and an inland trough will then prevail into late week before a cold front approaches but likely stalls before reaching the area.”
It’s 82* with some clouds mixed with sunshine. Look for a high of 88* with some sun returning after a soaking last few days.
Water temperature is around 86*.
Sunrise is at 6:43 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:02 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
