Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, August 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is in the knee-high range. There is a slightly larger set occasionally. It is weak, and best for a longboard if you have to get wet.
Winds are south/south-west at 10 knots, and surf is choppy.
Look for winds from the south today at 5 to 10 knots, and we see bumpy small surf as the tide goes out late afternoon.
High tide will be at 11:33 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:39 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east wind swell.
High pressure looks to build back in over our marine area early this week, resulting in small surf today. We see south wind swell increase for mid-week. This trend continues on-and-off most of your work week as south/south-west winds trend small on-shore wind-swell for our beaches. It looks like we’ll see mostly long-board or grovler-board waves this week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure and an inland trough will prevail until late week when a cold front possibly affects the area.”
It’s 83* with some clouds mixed with sunshine. Look for a high of 86* with a 20% chance of rain this afternoon.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:45 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:59 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
