Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, August 18 at 8:30 a.m.

Remember that Surfers Healing takes place at the Folly Beach Pier on Thursday, August 23rd.  Check it out at www.surfershealing.org.

Also, make sure to check out the Warrior Surf Foundation’s raffle at Bohemian Bull on Saturday, August 25. Check it out at www.warriorsurf.org.

Waves at the Washout are knee to thigh high. It’s closing out at the morning’s low tide.

Winds are WSW at 10 knots, and surf zone is textured and slightly side shore.

We see SW winds increasing throughout the day, chopping up the surf zone.

We just had a low tide, and we have a high tide at 2:45 p.m. today, and a low tide be at 8:50 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 4.2 seconds in a SW swell and short-period WSW wind swell.

Look for a slight increase in choppy south/south-west wind swell/ground swell today. It won’t be completely flat, but it won’t be clean. Waves should average knee to thigh high, with perhaps a slightly bigger set at the right tides. This swell looks to dissipate some Sunday afternoon. South-east/south-west wind-swell ground-swell combo looks to continue much the same into the middle of next week. In the tropics, we do have Invest 99 in the Central Atlantic, but it looks like this system is going to stay way to the south even if it develops.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “The area will be situated between an inland trough and Atlantic high pressure through the first part of next week. A front will approach the area from the west towards the middle of next week, then stall over or near the region through the end of the week.”

It’s 80* and mostly sunny this morning. Look for a high of 88* and a 40% chance of a thunderstorm today.

Water temperature is 84*.

Sunset is at 8 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:44 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
