Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, August 3rd at 8:30 a.m.

The SSC ESA Governor’s Cup of surfing takes place this weekend. It’s also tax free weekend + 20% off apparel, hats, shoes, and sunglasses starting today!

Surf at the Washout is averaging waist high. There is a stomach to rib high set in punchy south wind swell, however the wind is increasing by the second and it’s almost completely blown out.

Winds are SSE at 15 to 20 knots, and surf is choppy and a bit drifty.

We see southerly winds remaining in the 15+ knot zone throughout the day as thunderstorms move into the area.

High tide will be at 12:52 p.m., and low tide will be at 7:06p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft at 4.6 seconds in a SSE wind/swell combo.

We continue to see choppy south wind swell today average waist high with plus sets. Surf continues to be rideable as we sit in between low and high pressure systems. High pressure will take over this weekend before a couple of week cold fronts move into the area early next week.  With thunderstorms and wind moving in from the South, don’t expect much besides choppy conditions and weak surf.  Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Unsettled conditions will persist today as the region remains situated between high pressure offshore and an inland trough of low pressure. Atlantic high pressure will build in for the weekend, before another inland trough develops during the early and middle parts of next week.

It’s 80* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 83, with a 60% chance of rain and thunderstorms throughout the day.

Water temperature is 84*.

Sunset is at 8:16 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:34 a.m.
