Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Christmas Eve, Monday December 25 at 8:30 a.m.
We want to wish everyone a happy holiday season. We will close at between 1 and 2 p.m. depending on the traffic out here, so come see us if you need a last minute gift.
We won’t be doing a surf report on Christmas Day, since the waves are supposed to be pretty small, it should pick up later in the week, however.
Waves at the Washout this morning are ankle to knee high in a small south-west wind wave.
Winds are west/north-west at 5 to 10 knots. Surf zone is clean.
Look for winds from the north at 10 knots this afternoon. Surf zone stays fairly clean today.
High tide will be at 8:44 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:05 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:10 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft. at 5 seconds in a short period south-west wind swell.
High pressure dominates our weather today, and there is not much swell in our window. This continues through Christmas Day and into Wednesday. A cold front stalls over our area on Thursday, when a warm front begins to lift north, bringing us a nice south-east wind swell in the chest to head high range with bumpy -to-choppy conditions building Thursday and Friday. This swell lingers into our weekend. So, it should be a good end-of 2018 for surf. Wax up and get your errands done early.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail through mid week. A front will stall over or near our area Thursday before lifting north as a warm front by Friday. A cold front will approach the Southeast and linger nearby next weekend.”
It’s nice at the beach this morning. It’s 48* with bright sunshine. Look for a high of 59* and sun all day.
Water temperature is 55*.
Sunrise is around 7:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:18 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
