Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 26 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Pier this morning is knee high with a thigh set at the low tide in an east swell. Winds are side-shore-shore, and surf is semi-clean. It shows potential, but you might want to wait until the tide comes in some mid-morning and bring a longboard.
Winds are north at 10 knots, and surf zone is side-shore, but clean.
Look for winds to pick-up north-east at 10 to 15 knots late morning, adding side-shore chop and drift in the surf zone.
We have a low tide at 9:04 a.m., and a high tide will be at 3:31 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:54 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 6.2 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium east swell 4 ft. at 8 seconds, and an east/north-east wind swell 4.9 ft. at 7 seconds.
Surf should be best on the incoming tide this morning in a high angled east swell. Look for north-east winds this afternoon and side-shore chop later today as surf fades out some on the lower tide around dark. A frontal boundary stalled offshore today. Look for continued high-angled east wind swell for Saturday. Rideable on bigger boards, but not really good. Surf fades out Sunday afternoon and into the start of the work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail inland with a stationary front situated to the south through the weekend and into early next week. A trough of low pressure should then prevail during the second half of next week.”
It’s a beautiful morning. It’s 78* with partly cloudy skies. Look for a high of 85* today with sun.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:29 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:21 p.m.
