Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, June 7 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout and the Pier this morning are pretty much flat.
Winds are south-west at 15 knots, and surf zone is weak, choppy and side-shore.
Look for winds from the south today at 10 knots, with bumpy surf all day today.
High tide will be at 11:51 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:46 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a combination of small east/south-east swell 1.3 ft at 8 seconds, and south-west winds waves 2.3 ft. at 4 seconds.
Not much swell at the buoy, so we should see these small wind waves fade out some this afternoon at low tide, and surf should continue small into Saturday. We expect south wind waves to increase a bit for your Sunday, increasing just a bit Monday. This swell will be building into the heart of the next work week with mostly choppy conditions as a low pressure system and unsettled weather crosses near our marine area. There is some bigger choppy surf in the forecast for next week, so we’ll update that forecast.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A low pressure system will remain to the west through the middle of next week before lifting northeast. Dry high pressure may build over the area late next week.”
It’s 77* and cloudy this morning. Look for showers and thunderstorms on-and-off today and a high of 84*.
Water temperature is around 82*.
Sunrise is at 6:10 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:26 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
