Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, June 8 at 8 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high with a waist set. There is some wave action out there, but it’s bests for a high volume board.
Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and semi-choppy in a south wind swell.
Look for winds from the south today at 5 to 10 knots, with some bump and chop in the surf zone today, cleaning up in a rain storm.
Tide is now coming in, and high tide will be at 12:51 p.m. The next low tide will be at 6:46 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3 ft. at 5 seconds in a south wind swell.
Bring the high-volume board if you want to surf today. We should see these small wind waves fade out some this afternoon at low tide, and surf should continue small into Sunday. We do expect moderately sized south wind waves to increase a bit Monday into Tuesday. This choppy south/south-west wind swell will be building into the middle/latter part of the work week with mostly choppy conditions as a low-pressure system and unsettled weather lifts from our west to the north-east during the middle of next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A low pressure system will remain to the west through the middle of next week before lifting northeast. Dry high pressure will build over the area late next week.”
It’s 78* and cloudy this morning. Look for some sun, with showers and thunderstorms on-and-off today and a high of 85*.
Water temperature is around 81*.
Sunrise is at 6:10 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:26 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
