Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for
Friday, March 16 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received the complete line of Beater, Odysea and SofTech soft-boards here at the shop. Including all sizes of the single-fin Plank, the Jamie O’Brien Pro Model, the Wave Bandit and more. Go soft or go home.
Surf at the Washout knee to thigh high in weak south-west wind swell.
Winds are west at 10 knots and surf zone is semi-clean early.
Look for increasing westerly winds this morning going south-west – side-shore – later today at 15 to 20 knots.
We are coming off a high tide at 8 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:04 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:12 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 6.2 ft. at 7 seconds in south/south-westerly wind waves.
Winds come south-west at 15 to 20 knots later today, creating weak, knee-to-thigh high, drifty wind chop in the surf zone. We see choppy south-west wind swell building again for Saturday afternoon into the knee-to-thigh high range. Best chance for some real wind-swell with a better direction might Monday and into the middle of next week as winds come on-shore as a cold front stalls near our marine area creating some choppy east/south-east wind swell. Not a lot of real surf in the forecast, just wind-swell for the next several days.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail into Saturday. A backdoor cold front will drop south into the area on Sunday and then stall in the vicinity, before lifting back north as a warm front late Monday. Another cold front will pass through Tuesday, followed by cooler high pressure for the latter half of the week.”
It is 53* with sun this morning. Look for a warmer afternoon with windy conditions, sun, and a high of 69*.
Water temperature is back down to 57* with the cold snap.
Sunset is at 7:26 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:31 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
