Surf at The Washout this is knee high
Winds are east/south-east at 5 knots. Surf zone is semi-choppy.
Look for south winds at 5 to 10 knots today, adding chop to small surf.
We have a high tide at 8:54 a.m., and a low tide will be at 2:53 p.m. The next high tide is at 8:59 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 1.6 ft at 10 seconds in a long-period, east/south-easterly swell.
Not too much surf in the water for late week, but surf should begin to pick up in choppy south/south-west wind swell as a cold front affects our marine area on Sunday. Look for choppy south/south-west wind swell to average waist-to-stomach high. Surf should be cleaner for Monday with a cooler north wind, and it should drop off a bit. This small-swell fades out some for Tuesday, and we see high-angled north-east wind swell fill in for mid-week as high pressure sets up for the middle of the work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak backdoor cold front will approach from the north today and stall, before shifting back north of the area on Saturday. A cold front is expected to shift over the region late weekend into early next week. High pressure will return for the middle of next week.”
It’s a bit warmer this morning. With an air temperature of 56* and clouds. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 69* and sun behind clouds today.
Water temperature is around 58*. It dropped after this early March cold snap.
Sunrise is around 6:37 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:22 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
