textured

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: knee high
Traffic: none for now
Parking: plenty

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, March 9 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Pier this is hovering around knee high.

Winds are South at 5 knots. Surf zone is textured.

Look for winds from the south today up to 10 knots.

We have a high tide at 9:25 a.m., and a low tide will be at 3:26 p.m. The next high tide is at 10:32 p.m. The Edisto buoy is reading 3 ft at 5 seconds in a short period SSW wind and WSW swell combo.    Not too much surf in the water today besides the occasional knee high wave coming through. Surf should begin to pick up in choppy south/south-west wind swell as a cold front affects our marine area on Sunday. Look for choppy south/south-west wind swell to average waist-to-stomach high. Surf should be cleaner for Monday with a cooler north wind, and it should drop off a bit. This small-swell fades out some for Tuesday, and we see high-angled north-east wind swell fill in for mid-week as high pressure sets up for the middle of the work week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak backdoor cold front across the northern half of South Carolina will shift north tonight. A cold front is expected to shift over the region late weekend into early next week. High pressure will then prevail through late next week.”

It’s a bit warmer this morning. With an air temperature of 59* and clouds. Look for a nice beach day with a high of 70* with sun and clouds.

Water temperature is around 58*. It dropped after this early March cold snap.

Sunrise is around 6:37 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:22 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
