Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, November 16 at 8:15 a.m.
Looking forward to our “Schwack Friday” sale here at Ocean Surf Shop, with $100 off any new hard-board all day, and a 25% off sale on men’s and women’s apparel and more. Come check us out the day after Thanksgiving!
Waves at the pier this morning are running knee to thigh high with a waist high set.
Winds are west/north-west at 10 knots and surf is clean.
Winds are expected to continue north-west, straight off-shore, all day. We see clean surf today.
We just came off a low tide, and high tide is at 2:15 p.m. We see a low tide at 8:24 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 10 seconds in a long period easterly swell. There is a westerly wind swell pushing against the easterly swell: 4.9 ft. at 5 seconds.
We see easterly ground swell today average knee to thigh high for a long-board session if you want to brave the cold. Easterly swell fades some this afternoon on the low tide. We will continue to see a minor east/south-east swell for the weekend with north winds and small surf, but likely rideable on the longboard at the right tides. This trend continues for the early part of your holiday work week, before another cold front moves into the region mid-week, and north-east winds ramp up for your Thanksgiving holiday, pushing in high-angled north-east wind chop.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Cool, dry high pressure will dominate the pattern through the weekend. Another cold front may move through the region by mid-week, followed by stronger high pressure and continued cool conditions for the remainder of the work week.”
It’s a cold 39* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of only 58* today, but lots of sun.
Water temperature has dropped to 63*.
Sunset is at 5:17 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:51 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
