Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, September 28 at 8:30 a.m.
The Washout is starting to work again, but we’re still coming to you from the pier this morning.
Surf is averaging thigh to waist high with stomach high sets
Winds are west/south-west at 5 knots, and wind is side-shore. Surf is clean but bumpy.
We see S winds by mid-afternoon at 10 knots, chopping up the surf.
The first high tide will be at 10:26 a.m. and low tide will be at 4:49 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 10 seconds in long-period east/south-east ground swell with a south/south-west wind swell 3.6 ft at 6 seconds.
Look for some long period ground swell to start filtering in from Post Tropical Cyclone Leslie located in the Central Atlantic over the weekend. We will see an increasing east/north-east wind swell component in the mix chopping up the surf late Saturday into Sunday. Well begins to build on Sunday and early into the work week. We should have some waves of varying quality this weekend and they should be on the increase, though conditions will likely be choppy.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak front will slowly drop through the area this weekend, followed by high pressure for much of next week.”
It’s 80* and mostly sunny this morning. Look for hot day with a high of 90* and sun and some clouds this afternoon.
Water temperature is 83*.
Sunset is at 7:11 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:09 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
