January 31st Pier

clean

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: flat
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: frostbite

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, January 31 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the pier this morning are ankle high.

Winds are WNW at only 2 knots and surf is clean this morning.

Look for NW winds today never exceeding 15 knots.

Low tide will be at 10:46 p.m., and high tide will be at 4:41 p.m.  The Edisto buoy is reading 4.3ft. at 5 seconds in WNW swell with NNW winds. Surf looks small for the rest of the work week after a cold front passage today. Surf increases some late Sunday into Monday as high pressure sets up to our north-east and low pressure sets up off-shore, north-east of the Bahamas. This should push in some swell from the east/south-east Sunday and into our next work week, though still fairly small scale.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Cold high pressure will dominate into early Friday. Weak upper level disturbances will affect the area over the weekend into early next week.”

It’s 37* this morning with sun. Look for sunshine and a high of 53*

Water temperature has dropped to 53*, and should head down near 51* by the end of the week. It should go back up next week as we expect warmer temperatures.

Sunrise is around 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:49 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
