choppy

Time of Report: 8:00 a.m.
Wave Forecast: waist high
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: none

Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, May 5th at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the pier is Thigh to waist high in choppy crossed up conditions.

Winds are SW at 15 knots keeping the lineup choppy.

Look for winds to SW today up to 15 knots this afternoon.

We have a high tide at 8:57 a.m., and a low tide will be at 2:57 pm.

The Edisto buoy is reading 5.2 ft. at 6 seconds in a S swell.

There is still swell at the buoy with this current onshore flow. Waves are in the waist high range and choppy overall not looking so hot but certainly rideable. Looking into the work week, look for Monday morning to clean up with light NW winds. Surf should be thigh to hopefully waist high early. This swell fades early in the week and not much surf later in the work week. Better get in the water before the doldrums of summer set in.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Showers and thunderstorms are likely today ahead of a cold frontwhich will move through tonight. Drier high pressure will then prevail through the middle of the week before unsettled weather returns later in the week as another cold front approaches.”

It’s 75* with cloudy skies.  Look for clouds and a possible storm this afternoon with a high of 84*.

Water temperature is around 74*.

Sunrise is at 6:30 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:02 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
