Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, August 5th at 8:15 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee to thigh high with a rare waist high set. It shows potential for the high-volume boards.
Winds are light from the west this morning, and surf is very clean. It’s closing out a bit at the morning’s lower tide.
Look for south winds at 5 to 10 knots this afternoon, and bumpy surf later in the day.
Tide is now coming in and high tide will be at 12:22 p.m. Low tide will be at 6:20 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.
A few fun waves for the long-board glide this morning as the tide comes in, with clean conditions. We see see reinforcing trade swell fill in during the middle of the work week as high pressure over the Central Atlantic keeps south winds blowing a trade-wind swell in our direction. As a trough sets up inland, expect south-west winds to add some bump and chop to the mid-week swell. Invest 96L dissipated near the Caribbean overnight, and is not expected to push any tropical ground-swell our way.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A stationary front will dissipate through tonight. A weak surface trough will then prevail inland with high pressure in the Atlantic during the middle and latter part of the week. A cold front is forecasted to approach from the north during the weekend.”
It’s 76* with sunny skies this morning. Look for a high of 86* today with thunderstorms developing this afternoon.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:36 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:13 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
