Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, February 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Come check out our wetsuit sale. All full-suits marked down at least 20% and you’ll need one for the next two months.
We are planning to hold the Icebox Open on a weekend with some good waves sometime after Valentine’s Day, so keep an out for the big cold-water showdown!
Surf at the Washout this waist to stomach high. Perhaps a rib high set. It looks kinda’ fun.
It is a bit drained out at the morning’s low tide, but could get better form as the tide comes in early afternoon.
Winds are SSW at 5 knots, and surf is fairly clean. Winds and conditions should stay roughly the same all day with some bump in the surf, but clean faces.
Low tide is at 11:37 a.m. high tide will be at 5:34 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 6.2 ft. at 7 seconds in ESE wind swell and medium period swell. Plenty of swell at the buoy means some rideable surf all day.
We see waist to stomach high waves with a plus set now and then with light wind out of the SSW for some clean and glassy wave action for Monday. It could be fun this afternoon. We see rideable trade-wind swell at the beach to begin the work week, but winds go north Tuesday so look for cleaner surf in the waist high range with colder conditions. Small trade wind swell should continue through Wednesday, so there is some surf of varying size and quality in the forecast through mid-week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will approach today, then move south through the area tonight, as a wedge of high pressure builds in from the north. High pressure will then prevail until another cold front crosses late this week. High pressure will return next weekend.”
It is foggy and 62* this morning. Look for a high of 71 with showers possible this morning, and mostly cloudy skies this afternoon.
Water temperature is right around 55*.
Sunset is at 5:55 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:10 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
