Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, February 20 at 8:30 a.m.
The Icebox Open sponsored by Carolina Surf Brand could take place this weekend. Looks like some southerly swell might be in the water. We will keep an eye on the forecast and let you know first thing tomorrow morning.
Surf at the Washout is knee to thigh high with a waist high set at the morning’s high tide. Occasionally, it is bigger.
It looks pretty darn fun, and no one is out (yet).
Tide is up in the rocks, so surf is weak, but could get better form as the tide pulls out.
Winds are north/north-east at 5 knots, and surf is side-shore and semi-clean.
We see moderate south-easterly winds today, and surf should be a bit bumpy this afternoon, but not too bad.
High tide will be at 10:33 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:48 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 7 seconds in south-east wind swell/ground swell combo.
We have a little swell at the buoy and a bit of longboard surf today in the thigh high range with plus sets. Look for winds picking up from the south-east at 10 knots this afternoon adding some bump to the surf. High pressure sets up over the Western Atlantic and sends in trade-wind swell starting Wednesday for a longboard wave. Swell builds into late week with nice weather and overall moderate winds. This swell should pick up late in the work week, and will hopefully hold into Saturday for the Icebox Open.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A large area of high pressure will remain across the region for much of the week. A cold front should approach the area early next week.
It is 63* with fog this morning. Look for a high of 74* and partly sunny skies.
Water temperature is right around 58*.
Sunset is at 6:08 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
