Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, January 28 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the Washout this morning knee high. Looks to push thigh high as the tide comes in this morning.
Winds are slack this morning, and surf zone is very clean.
Look for north winds at 5 to 10 knots today, and we’ll have a clean surf-zone all day.
We are coming off a low tide this morning, and high tide will be at 1:53 p.m. The next low tide will be at 8:06 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.6 ft. at 5 seconds in a high-angled, short-period north-east wind swell.
We have knee high surf with a slightly bigger set as the tide comes in later this morning. Surf falls off for late day as the tide drops this afternoon. Look for small surf through Monday. Tuesday, we see a cold front approaching our marine area, and this should push up some weak, choppy south-west wind swell in the waist-high range. Surf looks small late week after a cold front passage brings the coldest weather of the season.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure far offshore will move away this morning, with high pressure to then prevail the rest of today into tonight. A strong cold front will move through later Tuesday, followed by cold high pressure into late week. A more unsettled pattern may develop by next weekend and into early next week with moderating temperatures.”
It’s 47* this morning with cloudy skies. Look for a high of 57* today with some clouds and occasional sun.
Water temperature is around 55*.
Sunrise is around 7:14 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:46 p.m.
