Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, January 29 at 8:30 a.m.
According to the City of Folly Beach, we cannot hold the Icebox Open until after February 14, so we will plan to hold the contest during one of the last two weekends of February and the first two weekends of March.
Surf at the Washout this morning is waist to chest high. Occasionally there is a shoulder set.
Winds are NNW at 10 knots, and surf is clean. We see north-west winds at 10 to 15 knots today, and surf should stay clean.
The first low tide will be at 11:56 a.m. followed by high tide at 6 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 6.9 ft. at 9 seconds in south-east ground swell. So we have plenty of swell at the buoy, and we expect waves all day.
Look for ground swell to start closing out on the lower tide late morning. We see surf building on the incoming tide this afternoon. Look for surf to average waist to stomach high with chest sets in a clean south-east ground swell today. Winds are expected to stay off-shore today, so hopefully it won’t blow too hard. Ground swell is in the water, so look for another fun day of surf. We see surf slowly fading overnight, with some waist high leftovers for your Tuesday. Surf falls off some mid-week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will move off the coast this morning. Cool high pressure will build over the area through the middle of the week before moving off the coast Thursday. A cold front will move through Friday morning, followed by high pressure building from the north. Another front will affect the area Sunday.”
It is 58* this morning with clouds and light showers. Look for clouds today and a high of 60*.
Water temperature is up, it’s now 51*.
Sunset is at 5:45 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:17 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
