Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, June 18 at 8:15 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is knee high with an occasional thigh high set.
Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 10 knots. Surf zone is side-shore, weak and semi-choppy.
Look for winds to clock south at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon, this should chop up the surf.
Tide is coming in. High tide will be at 12:47 p.m. The next low tide will be at 6:38 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a small south-east swell and a slightly bigger, short period south/south-west wind swell.
We are in the doldrums of summer, with an inland trough to our west, and high pressure to our east, the best we can hope for is small, weak south-west wind swells that clean up for morning sessions. Hopefully we will see some break in this weather pattern or some sort of near shore tropical activity. But until then, we don’t expect much surf.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “The region will remain situated between Atlantic high pressure and an inland trough of low pressure into late this week. A weak cold front could stall near the area this weekend.”
It is 81* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 87* with partly cloudy skies this afternoon and a 20% chance of a thunderstorm.
Water temperature is 82*.
Sunset is at 8:30 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:10 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
