Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, June 17 at 8:30 a.m.
Happy Father’s Day to all the surfing dads out there. Hopefully you can pull away and catch a few long-board waves this morning.
Surf at the Washout is knee to thigh high. There is a waist high set occasionally, but bring the high volume board if you plan on surfing.
Winds are south-east at 5 knots, putting a little bit of bump on the surf, but it’s not too bad.
Look for winds to clock south at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon, this should chop up the surf.
We have an incoming tide, high at 11:46 a.m., and a low tide at 5:39 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a south-east swell.
We are in the doldrums of summer, with an inland trough to our west, and high pressure to our east, the best we can hope for is small south-west wind swells that clean up for morning sessions. Hopefully we will see some break in this weather pattern or some sort of near shore tropical activity. But until then, we don’t expect much surf.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “The region will remain situated between Atlantic high pressure and an inland trough of low pressure through next week.”
It is 79* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 85* with partly cloudy skies this afternoon and a 20% chance of a thunderstorm.
Water temperature is 82*.
Sunset is at 8:30 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:10 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
