Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, May 7 at 7:15 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is running waist stomach with chest sets in continued south-east swell. It is closing out at the morning’s low tide, but should get better as the tide comes in.
Wind is north-west at 5 to 10 knots, and surf is very clean.
Look for west winds going north-east at 5 to 10 knots this afternoon, adding some bump to the surf, but it should not be too choppy today.
Low tide is at 7:53 a.m. We have a high tide at 1:58 p.m., and a low tide at 7:53 p.m.
The Edisto buoy reading 4.3 ft. at 8 seconds in south-east medium period swell.
We still have some south-east swell in the water today, and this should continue into Tuesday, but winds will go north-east at 10 to 15 knots, adding some chop to the surf. We see continued – but smaller – trade-wind swell late this week. It will be a bit smaller mid-week, but look for continued waves for the next several days.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak cold front will move through tonight. High pressure will prevail into the weekend.”
It is sunny and 61* as of report time. Look for a high of 82* today and sun.
Water temperature is now up to around 72*.
Sunset is at 8:05 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:26 a.m.
