Remember, The Army Corps of Engineers are still pumping sand at the South side Pier this morning, so the area is blocked off.
Waves at the this morning are running knee to thigh high with a waist high set. Occasionally there is a stomach high set, but it is inconsistent.
Winds are north/north-west at 5 knots, and surf zone is very clean.
Winds are expected to continue westerly today, and surf zone should stay fairly clean all day.
We have a low tide today at 10:30 a.m., and a high tide at 4:45 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 10 seconds in a combination of south-easterly long period ground swell and short period east/south-east wind swell.
We have small but rideable south-easterly swell in the water this morning in the knee to waist high range. It should be worth a look on the incoming tide early afternoon with relatively clean conditions all day. These conditions continue with back-ground east/south-east swell in the forecast for Tuesday into Wednesday. Best for the longboard at the right tides. For late week, we expect a cold front passage. Winds should ramp up north-east and we see choppy, drifty north-east wind swell building for late week. This swell should rotate to south-east Saturday and into Sunday as a low departs our marine area, hopefully pushing up a sizeable wind swell that cleans up and fades Saturday afternoon into Sunday. We’ll keep you updated.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A coastal trough nearby this morning will pull away today. A cold front will move through late Tuesday, followed by high pressure that will prevail through late in the week. Low pressure moving over or near the area this weekend will lead to unsettled weather.”
It’s a pleasant fall morning 60* and sunny. Look for a high of 70* today with sun passing behind clouds.
Water temperature has dropped to 62*.
Sunrise was at 6:52 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:17 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
